Ever feel lonely or see someone who looks that way?

Romans 12:9-10 tells us
“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”

When I read this scripture, something pricked me inside my soul. I think if we really took time to think about it, we would notice that this is lacking in our busy schedules, because we just don’t have time to stop. First and foremost we are called to be God’s children. We are how many people meet Jesus and we may be their only glance in to Him. He took His full attention and gave it to us. Can’t we just give little of ours here and there? After all, He came and died for them too.

There are so many people in this world who are sitting in a silent lonely state of mind…. Who may seem to have everything, but lack in the most important things such as friends, family, or just want to know that someone genuinely cares if they are alive in this world. We know one who is all those things and who wants us to be those things too. Remember your most lonely moment in life. Now magnify that feeling by a couple of times and you will have a small idea of what many people are going through right at this moment.

A smile, a greeting, a cup of coffee, or even having lunch with someone may take up a half hour to and hour of your time, but that hour can change somebody’s life. It may change their whole life. It may give them a glimmer of hope. Remember, where we go Jesus goes. The second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor like your self. The first is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind. The Bible says that there is none greater than these commandments. (Mark 12:29-31)

Hey, no one told us following after Jesus would be sitting idle and doing nothing. Take a moment out of your busy life and show the lonely that they are not alone. It’s the least we can do. After all, someone cared for us enough to do the same.

Remember, Jesus is the reason for the season we are celebrating right now! Love one, another and have a very Merry Christmas!
